Educational Qualification

1. Scientific Assistant-B

  • Diploma Holders : A 3-year Diploma in Engineering (after SSC/HSC) or a 2-year Diploma through lateral entry after HSC (10+2) with at least 60% marks .
  • Disciplines : Civil, Electrical, Instrumentation, Electronics, and Mechanical .
  • Computer Science : B.Sc. (Computer Science/Statistics) with 60% marks OR B.Sc. (60%) plus a 1-year Diploma in Computer Science (60%) .
    Note : Candidates with lateral entry into the 2nd year of a Diploma after 10th (SSC) + ITI are not eligible.

2. Category-I: Stipendiary Trainee/Scientific Assistant (ST/SA)

  • Engineering Diploma : 3-year Diploma after 10th/12th or 2-year lateral entry Diploma after 10+2 with minimum 60% marks in Electrical, Mechanical, Instrumentation, or Electronics.
  • Health Physics : B.Sc. with minimum 60% marksPhysics or Chemistry must be the principal subject with other specified subsidiaries.
    Mandatory : Mathematics at the HSC (10+2) level and English at the SSC or HSC level.
    Ineligible : Candidates with Mathematics as their principal subject in B.Sc. are not eligible for this post.

3. Category-II: Stipendiary Trainee/Technician (ST/TM)

  • Operator : HSC (10+2) or ISC in Science stream (Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics) with minimum 50% marks in aggregate.
  • Maintainer Trades (Fitter, Electrician, etc.) : SSC (10th) with minimum 50% marks in Science and Mathematics individually, plus a 2-year ITI certificate in the relevant trade.
    • For ITI courses less than 2 years, at least 1 year of relevant work experience is required
  • Common Requirement : Must have studied English at least at the SSC (10th) level.

4. Assistant Grade-1 (HR / F&A / C&MM)

    • Any Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized university with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate.

5. Medical/Technical Posts

  • Nurse-A : HSC (10+2) plus a 3-year Diploma in Nursing & Midwifery OR B.Sc. (Nursing) Must have a valid registration as a Nurse with the Central/State Nursing Council.
  • Technician-C (X-Ray Technician) : HSC (Science) with 60% marks plus a 1-year Medical Radiography/X-Ray Technique trade certificate and 2 years of post-qualification experience.

Important General Notes :

  • Rounding Off : Percentages will not be rounded off. For example, 59.99% will be treated as 59% (less than the required 60%).
  • Final Year Students : Those appearing in their final year or final semester are not eligible to apply.
  • English Language : For most technical and trainee roles, having studied English at the SSC or HSC level is a mandatory requirement.

Selection Process for Scientific Assistant-B & Category-I (ST/SA)

The selection for these Group 'B' posts is a two-stage process:

  • Stage 1 : Online Examination 
    • Format : 50 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).
    • Duration : 90 minutes.
    • Syllabus : Based on the relevant subject/discipline.
    • Marking : 2 marks for a correct answer; 0.5 marks deducted for an incorrect answer.
    • Qualifying Standards : 40% for General (UR) and 30% for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/PwBD.

  • Stage 2 : Personal Interview 

    • Shortlisting : Candidates are called in a 1:5 ratio based on their online exam performance.

    • Qualifying Marks : 40% for UR and 30% for reserved categories.

    • Final Merit List : Prepared with a 50:50 weightage from the Online Test and Personal InterviewIn case of a tie, the candidate with higher marks in the online test is ranked higher, followed by lower negative marks, then age (older candidate first).

Selection Process for Category-II (ST/TM), Nurse-A, and Technician/C

This process follows a three-stage format:

  • Stage 1 : Preliminary Test (Screening)
    • Format : 50 MCQs (20 Math, 20 Science, 10 General Awareness).
    • Duration : 60 minutes
    • Marking : 3 marks for correct; 1 mark deducted for incorrect.
    • Qualifying Standards : 40% for UR and 30% for reserved categories .
  • Stage 2 : Advanced Test 
    • Timing : Conducted on the same day as the Preliminary Test.
    • Format : 50 MCQs based on the specific trade/discipline.
    • Duration : 120 minutes.
    • Marking: 3 marks for correct; 1 mark deducted for incorrect .
    • Qualifying Standards: 30% for UR and 20% for reserved categories .
  • Stage 3 : Skill Test / Document Verification 
    • For Operator : No skill test is conducted; only Document Verification occurs for those shortlisted (up to a 1:3 ratio.
    • For Other Trades: A qualifying Skill Test (Go/No-Go basis) is conducted for those shortlisted in a 1:5 ratio
    • Final Merit List : Based solely on the scores from Stage 2 (Advanced Test).

Selection Process for Assistant Grade-1 (HR / F&A / C&MM)

The selection for these administrative posts also involves three stages:

  • Stage 1 : Preliminary Test 
    • Format : 50 MCQs (25 General Knowledge/Current Affairs, 15 Computer Knowledge, 10 English)
    • Duration : 60 minutes
    • Marking : 3 marks for correct; 1 mark deducted for incorrect
  • Qualifying Standard : 40% for UR and 30% for reserved categories.
    • Stage 2 : Advanced Test 
    • Format : 50 MCQs (25 Quantitative Aptitude, 25 Critical Reasoning).
    • Duration : 120 minutes.
    • Marking : 3 marks for correct; 1 mark deducted for incorrect.
  • Stage 3 : Skill Test 
    • Typewriting Test : Conducted on computers at a speed of 30 w.p.m. in English.
    • Computer Proficiency Test : Covers MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access) and Internet/Email management.
    • Nature : This stage is qualifying (Go/No-Go).
    • Final Selection : Candidates are empanelled in order of merit based on Stage 2 marks only.
