Selection Process

Entrance Examination (NTA Role)

The first major step is the Common University Entrance Test (CUET), which serves as a unified platform for admissions into postgraduate programs across various Central and participating Universities.

  • Mode of Test : The exam is conducted as a Computer Based Test (CBT) only.
  • Exam Structure : Each question paper consists of 75 questions to be completed in 90 minutes.
  • Scoring: * +4 marks for every correct answer.
    • -1 mark for every incorrect answer (negative marking).
    • 0 marks for unanswered or marked-for-review questions.
  • Normalization : For subjects held in multiple shifts, NTA uses an Equi-percentile method to normalize raw scores into NTA scores to ensure fairness across different difficulty levels.

2. Results and Scorecards

  • Answer Key Challenge : Before final results, NTA displays Provisional Answer Keys on its website, allowing candidates to challenge any discrepancies.
  • Score Declaration : NTA prepares and declares the results and hosts individual scorecards for candidates.
  • Finality : There is no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of the final NTA score.

3. University Admissions (Final Selection)

The role of NTA concludes with the delivery of scores. The actual "selection" or admission happens at the university level:

  • Merit List: Each participating University or Organization prepares its own merit list based on the CUET (PG) scores.
  • Counseling and Admission: Candidates must apply separately to their desired universities. The universities handle the counseling process and final seat allotment.

  • Document Verification: Eligibility and reservation benefits (like PwBD status) are strictly verified by the respective university at the time of admission
